| Camp Henry Jacobs is a year round camp
for children and adults set in the rolling hills of rural middle Mississippi,
about twenty miles south of Jackson. The facilities have recently been
renovated and improved in many ways. New dining, meeting and all purpose
rooms plus new and improved cabins and dormitories are just some of the
on-going changes being made to this already well appointed camp. Several
swimming pools, an enclosed skating rink-theater, and tennis courts are
available to the members for use. The centerpiece of the camp is a small
lake for fishing and canoeing and a hiking trail through the woods includes
exercise stops along the way.
Living accommodations are excellent. The "staff" cabins include two rooms with adjoining bath, comfortable for four. The "motel" rooms are somewhat smaller and may be the same configuration for four, or one room with bath for one or two people. All are air conditioned.
The painting pavilion has a large roof,
concrete floor, no walls except for the attached "ceramic room" which is
enclosed and air conditioned. This room is also available to the
artists. There is ample lighting throughout the pavilion, and outlets
for more if you wish to bring your own. Additional painting space for those
prefering to 'spread out' is located in the breezeway next to the dining
room. You may paint at any time of the day or night, either under the pavilion
or in the ceramic room... or just about anywhere else you'd like.
. Everything is within walking distance, but might be considered a bit of a hike for some. |
